Use Cases & Solutions
Every real situation you'll encounter while working remotely with AG Remote — and exactly how to handle it. No guesswork required.
Staff Performance
Staff is taking too long to respond
You sent a prompt 5+ minutes ago. The activity feed shows "Working..." but nothing is appearing in the chat.
What to do
Use Live Screen Capture
Tap the camera icon to screenshot your Mac screen. This reveals what the IDE actually looks like — maybe the staff is running a long build, or maybe it's stuck on a confirmation dialog.
Check the Activity Feed
Look at the status indicator at the top. If it shows "Waiting", the staff needs your input. If it shows "Working" with a tool name, the staff is genuinely processing.
Force-Approve if blocked
The most common reason for delays is a permission block. Tap Force-Approve to unblock the staff and let it continue.
Send a follow-up prompt
Sometimes sending "continue" or "status?" will nudge the staff to respond with a progress update.
Pro tip: Enable Auto-Confirm mode for long-running tasks. The staff will automatically approve safe operations instead of waiting for you.
Staff is stuck on a permission block
The staff tried to run a command (like npm install or file deletion) and the IDE is showing a confirmation dialog that requires clicking "Allow" on your Mac.
What to do
Toggle Auto-Confirm
If you trust the staff's workflow, toggle Auto-Confirm on. Our advanced UI-automation engine will silently intercept and approve confirmation dialogs deep within the IDE for you automatically.
Screenshot first if unsure
If you're not sure what the staff is trying to do, capture a screenshot first. Review the pending action, then decide whether to approve.
Pro tip: Auto-confirm leverages our proprietary event simulator to bypass UI blockers naturally, making it nearly invisible and highly reliable.
Staff output doesn't look right
The staff says "build succeeded" but you suspect something is off. Or the staff made changes to the wrong file.
What to do
Take a Live Screenshot
Screenshot your Mac to see the actual IDE state. Check which files are open, whether the terminal shows errors, or if the preview looks wrong.
Ask the staff to verify
Send a prompt like "Show me the current state of [file]" or "Run the tests again and show me the output" to get a fresh status report.
Switch to a more powerful model
If the staff is making repeated mistakes, switch to a more capable AI model using the Model Switcher for complex tasks.
Pro tip: For critical deployments, always screenshot before and after to visually confirm the changes look correct.
Connection
Lost connection to Mac (shows "Offline")
The status indicator shows your Mac is offline, messages aren't sending, or the app feels unresponsive.
What to do
Tap Sync Connection
Open the sidebar and tap the Sync button. This performs a full health check — verifying the Desktop Host is reachable, refreshing all data, and re-establishing the connection.
Check your internet
Both your iPhone and Mac need internet access. Try opening Safari on your iPhone to verify connectivity.
Verify Desktop Host is running
The Desktop Host app needs to be running on your Mac. If your Mac rebooted or the app crashed, you'll need to relaunch it.
Switch networks
If you're on a restrictive Wi-Fi (hotel, office), try switching to cellular data. AG Remote works on any internet connection.
Pro tip: The Sync button is your best friend. Whenever anything feels off, try syncing first before troubleshooting further.
Chat shows old/wrong conversation after switching tabs
You switched tabs in the sidebar but the chat content doesn't match, or you see messages from a different session.
What to do
Tap Sync Connection
The sidebar Sync button refreshes all conversations, tabs, and history. It will realign the mobile app with the current IDE state.
Pull to refresh
In the chat view, pull down to trigger a refresh of the current conversation content.
Switch tab again
Tap on the correct conversation in the sidebar. Sometimes tapping twice (away and back) forces a clean reload.
Pro tip: After the Sync completes, you'll see a green "Synced ✓" confirmation. Wait for this before switching tabs.
IDE Issues
Antigravity IDE is completely frozen
The IDE is unresponsive on your Mac. No commands execute, the staff doesn't respond, and Force-Approve has no effect.
What to do
Use Remote IDE Restart
Go to Settings in the sidebar and tap the restart option. This gracefully shuts down and relaunches the IDE with full progress tracking displayed on your iPhone.
Wait for the restart to complete
The restart process shows real-time phases: shutting down → relaunching → reconnecting → ready. Don't interact until you see the completion state.
Sync after restart
Once the IDE restarts, tap Sync Connection to re-establish the bridge and verify everything is working.
Pro tip: IDE freezes are rare but can happen during resource-intensive operations. Remote Restart is designed specifically for this — it's safe to use at any time.
Staff is using the wrong AI model
The staff's responses seem less capable than expected, or you want to use a different model for a specific task.
What to do
Open Model Switcher
Tap the model name in the chat toolbar to see available models. Select the one you want — the change takes effect immediately on the next message.
Use lightweight models for simple tasks
For quick questions, formatting, or simple edits — a fast model saves time and quota.
Use powerful models for complex work
For multi-file refactoring, debugging complex issues, or architectural decisions — switch to the most capable model available.
Pro tip: Switching models mid-conversation is fine. The new model picks up the full context from the existing chat history.
Flagged for High Traffic / Bot Detection
The IDE blocks the staff chat, displaying a "High Traffic" or "Unusual Activity" warning demanding captcha solving or a cooldown.
What to do
Let Adaptive Recovery kick in
AG Remote monitors for traffic blocks. When detected, wait 3 seconds: our smart recovery strategy will seamlessly circumvent the block and recover the session automatically.
Switch to a different AI model
If the block persists, open the Model Switcher on your phone and temporarily route your session to an alternative model.
Use the IDE Restart feature
If the penalty locks the host node completely, trigger an IDE Remote Restart to spin up a completely fresh IDE session.
Pro tip: Bot detection walls are naturally mitigated by AG Remote's proprietary request engine—just let it auto-retry.
Security
Lost phone or compromised mobile access
You suspect someone has access to your mobile device, or you lost your phone and want to instantly revoke IDE control.
What to do
Open the Desktop Host Dashboard
On your Mac, launch the AG Remote desktop app to see all actively paired devices.
Click the Revoke Switch
Toggle the switch next to the compromised device. This instantly triggers a REST-based session termination signal.
Verify destruction
The moment the signal is sent, the compromised iOS app is force-logged out, auth state is wiped, and all subsequent network requests from that device are systematically dropped.
Pro tip: The revocation process operates on a direct REST pipeline that bypasses standard websocket unreliability, making access termination instant and bulletproof.
Cannot pair or "Invalid Cryptographic Signature"
Scanning the QR code on your Mac fails to pair, or the app reports a signature mismatch preventing connection.
What to do
Check network isolation
Ensure your iPhone and Mac can reach the Global Edge Network. VPNs sometimes block the initial handshake routing.
Restart Desktop Host App
Quit and reopen the Desktop Host App on your Mac to generate a fresh QR code and routing channel.
Pro tip: QR codes expire after a period of inactivity. If you leave the host app open too long before scanning, just restart it to get a fresh code.
Advanced
Need to give the staff visual context
You want to show the staff a UI bug, a design mockup, an error from another device, or a whiteboard sketch.
What to do
Attach a photo from Camera
Tap the photo icon in the chat toolbar and select "Camera" to take a live photo. Great for photographing whiteboards, another screen, or a physical reference.
Attach from Photo Library
Select an existing screenshot or image from your gallery. Perfect for sharing saved mockups, error screenshots, or design references.
Describe what you're showing
Pair the image with a text prompt: "This is a screenshot of the bug. The button should be blue, not red. Fix it." The staff understands both image and text together.
Pro tip: Multi-modal chat works best when you combine an image with a clear, specific instruction about what you want the staff to do with it.
Managing multiple Mac staff
You have multiple Macs running Antigravity IDE and want to control them all from one iPhone.
What to do
Add another staff
Tap "Add" in the sidebar footer to pair a new Mac. Each connection gets its own QR pairing and independent encrypted channel.
Switch between staff
Use the staff selector at the top of the screen to switch between your connected Macs. Each one maintains its own chat history and state.
Use descriptive names
Rename your staffs to something meaningful like "Work MacBook" or "Studio iMac" so you always know which machine you're controlling.
Pro tip: Each staff connection is fully independent. Restarting one IDE doesn't affect the others.
Too much typing required / Hands are busy
You are walking, cooking, or driving, and typing a complex prompt on the mobile keyboard is tedious.
What to do
Hold the Mic to speak
AG Remote features native iOS Voice Dictation. Hold the mic button in the chat to speak your commands directly to the agent.
Zero-Latency Processing
Transcription is processed 100% on-device using Apple's Neural Engine, so it converts speech to text instantly without waiting for cloud APIs.
Pro tip: You can dictate your prompt, review the captured text, and edit it manually before hitting send.
Reviewing raw code is difficult on a mobile screen
The agent returns a large block of Javascript or Python code, and reading unformatted text on a small screen makes it hard to verify.
What to do
Native Markdown Highlighting
AG Remote automatically parses code blocks and renders them in sleek, dark monospaced boxes, making syntax instantly readable.
1-Tap Copy
Instead of manually dragging text cursors on a small screen, tap the Copy button in the corner of any code block to instantly grab the entire script to your clipboard.
Pro tip: Copied code maintains its exact formatting and indentation, ready to be pasted into another app or pushed to a repository.
App Issues
iOS app feels slow or unresponsive
The AG Remote app itself feels laggy, buttons don't respond quickly, or the UI seems frozen.
What to do
Close and reopen the app
Swipe up to close AG Remote from the app switcher, then relaunch it. This clears any stale state.
Tap Sync on reopen
After relaunching, immediately tap Sync to re-establish the connection and load fresh data.
Check for app updates
Make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store. We ship performance improvements frequently.
Pro tip: If the app shows a spinning indicator for more than 10 seconds, a close-and-reopen is the fastest fix.
Subscription or billing questions
You want to check your plan, see billing dates, or cancel your subscription.
What to do
Visit the Dashboard
Tap your email in the sidebar footer to open the AG Remote Dashboard in Safari. Here you can see your plan, start date, next billing date, and payment amount.
Cancel anytime
The Dashboard includes a Cancel Subscription button with a confirmation step. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Switch billing frequency
You can switch between monthly ($9/mo) and yearly ($79/year — save 27%) from the Dashboard.
Pro tip: Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until then.
